Special Pre-Programme Concerts

On two occasions, the IVC2018 Evening Concerts are preceded by special pre-programme concerts in the foyer of the concert venue (De Doelen). These programmes feature youth orchestras from Rotterdam and young viola soloists.

The Rotterdam Youth Symphony Orchestra (RJSO) is the biggest youth orchestra association in Rotterdam, embodying four complete symphony orchestras for different age groups of amateur musicians – from elementary school to university level. Conducted by Jim Roodnat, the RJSO (high school age group) orchestra brings a programme dedicated to viola solo pieces with young soloists from their own ranks, performed in the lobby of De Doelen.

Pre-Programme 2: Young Talent Orchestra with Young Soloists

Mila Kastelein

The Young Talent Orchestra (YTO) is one of the leading Youth Orchestras in The Netherlands, finishing 2nd in the Dutch National Youth Orchestra Competition in June 2018. The orchestra consists of talented students from the Hellendaal Music Institute and the Codarts pre-college programme. Conducted by viola professor Mikhail Zemtsov, a programme dedicated to viola solo pieces is performed in the lobby of De Doelen.
